Installation Process
We begin by assessing the roof structure and confirming it can support the weight of a slate or tile system.
If you’re replacing an existing roof, we carefully remove the old materials, inspect the underlying structure, and make any necessary repairs or reinforcements to ensure a solid foundation. We install a breathable waterproof membrane across the roof deck to provide an extra layer of moisture protection. Treated timber battens are then fixed horizontally to support the slates or tiles.
Slates or tiles are installed in overlapping rows, starting from the eaves and working upwards. Each piece is fixed using nails or clips, depending on the material and system. We ensure perfect alignment for a neat, weatherproof finish. Lead or metal flashing is installed around chimneys, skylights, and other penetrations to ensure a watertight seal and long-lasting protection.
The roof ridge and verges are finished using appropriate ridge tiles or dry ridge systems to provide secure capping and additional protection against wind uplift and water ingress. Once installation is complete, we carry out a full inspection to ensure every tile or slate is secure and the roof is properly sealed.
